Herbert Edward Shugarman, age 76, passed away May 10, 2017 at the Promedica Ebeid Hospice residence in Sylvania, Ohio after being cared for at Kingston Care Center in Sylvania for over a year. He was born in Toledo, OH on January 13, 1941, to Abraham and Bessie Shugarman. He graduated from the University of Toledo with a certificate of Associate in Industrial Technology. He was a Draftsman for Dana and loved classic cars, including his own 1954 Packard. He built model planes, cars and trains. He was an avid railroader who collected model trains and had a dedicated room in his house set up for his tracks and trains. He liked going to car shows, gun shows and train shows. He really enjoyed work on voting days at the voting booths and he frequented the Sylvania Public Library, Rudy’s, Sofos and the Andersons, to name a few. He was a mall walker and many of the workers and patrons knew him. Herb was willing to talk to anyone.
He is survived by his brother, Richard (Shirley) Shugarman; his nieces, Sherrie Shugarman Douvre (Christian) and Debra Shugarman Reiner (Matthew); his nephews, Jeffrey Shugarman and Hal (Denise) Shugarman and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph Shugarman; sisterin-law, Elaine Shugarman; his niece, Brenda Shugarman Logsden and his greatnephew, Alexander Joseph Reiner. Services and interment will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
