Jean Cieslukowski, 92, passed away December 21, 2017 at Ohio Living Swan Creek. Born Jean Duda, she was a graduate of Whitney Vocational School. In 1945, she married Joseph Cieslukowski. Together, they raised three daughters, making sure that each one had a debt-free college education and a good used car to start them on their way. Jean never wanted to be praised in her obituary for her skills as a homemaker, so we will not mention here that she sewed beautiful wardrobes for her children and grandchildren, or that her Polish coffee cakes were the first items to go at any bake sale. We promised not to tell about her prowess with pierogi, or her stuffed cabbage that was always perfectly seasoned. Instead, we will remember that she finished crossword puzzles in pen; that she read voraciously; that she gave generously to The Cherry Street Mission and to the Northwest Ohio Food Bank, because she hated the idea that anyone in her beloved hometown would go hungry. Jean and Joe enjoyed travel, particularly to Naples, FL. She was a lifelong Democrat, and in 2016, was featured in a Blade article, voting for Hillary Clinton. After that election, Jean spent a lot of time yelling at the television. Jean was the best mother a daughter could have, and will continue to be an example of how to love. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Sue (Thom) Misiak, Bonnie (Bob) Weissman, and Annie Cieslukowski; grandchildren, Stephanie Misiak, Sarah Anderson, Wendy Weissman, and Joseph and Suzannah Kohli; four great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Road, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, with the recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 29 at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10 a.m., with the celebration of the funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Street Mission, the Northwest Ohio Food Bank, or The Fair Housing Center.
