I learned so many songs from Mrs. B during my time in her music classes. I still find myself singing some of them. My husband will listen to me walk through the house and then guess that I dug another one up from grade school. She filled my heart with music and I will always remember her with joy.

On behalf of the N.W. Ohio Alumnae Chapter, Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity, I wish to offer our Chapter's sincere sympathy and prayers to Kay's family. She was a member of our chapter many years ago and exemplified what a great music
teacher does for her students, family, church and community. She had a wonderful life and career and enriched so many lives. You were blessed to be part of that life. God bless you with wonderful memories, Karen T. Biscay

Dear Diane, Joe, & Barb:

We are all fellow travelers through life. The collections of persons with whom we come into contact during that journey varies by degrees of friendships that come & go, relatives, fellow workers and on it goes. But within that ad-hoc lifetime collection of persons and personalities are those who clearly stand alone and above all others. Your mom and dad are without parallel of that pinnacle for us!

Beginning all the way back in 1968 when I was given the seemingly inauspicious order to "go see the new Lathrop Superintendent at the Woodly Road overpass" to the ensuing many, many years of friendship, we can safely say they changed our lives. What we learned from them is incalculable; beyond quantifiable. We have enjoyed much success in life, and much of that is because of them. Ed was clearly my most influential mentor. Kay, fellow teacher Patricia and I intertwined on many occasions as we navigated the world of education and Toledo Public School matters. Exchanging greetings with Kay at the Art Museum was almost reason enough to go there.

And having the opportunity to know you guys was part of the joy. The large scale projects I helped with on Briarwood were fun, not work. Kay said I was an impossible challenge to try to teach piano (something about hand eye coordination deficiency), and I, of course, never ceded to either the Badgers nor Boilermakers (though my son married a Boiler...so my stance had to soften).

Unfortunately, we now live in Columbus and will be in Pittsburgh tomorrow through
Monday so we will not be able to come to Toledo for Kay's services. But we wanted you to know how much your mom & dad mean to us. God bless them, and all of you.

There are so many things I can share about Kay. She was a dear friend, and we had good times together, whether working in her yard, walking at Toledo Botanical Gardens, or attending a concert. She would pop over with a gift for my garden, or just to have tea. I have a beautiful angel she gave me that stands in my flower bed or on my porch. I think of her when I look at it. She would call me on the spur of the moment and tell me to stop for dinner because she had salmon or had just made a delicious salad. She was very talented in many areas, and a true lady who was nice to everyone. I am sure she lives on in the lives of all of her students. May you be comforted by your wonderful memories.

Dear Diane, Joe, Barb, and families,

It is with regret, and sadness that I am writing these condolences on the passing of your mother. To say Kay was a larger than life character would be an understatement. She will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor, music teacher, and friend.

The memories of her, of our families, growing up together, and the lessons I learned from her as her student will be forever etched in my brain, and on my heart.

Please know I am thinking of you all, and praying for your healing, and that one day your memories will be replaced by tears with smiles.

Much love to all of you, and my deepest sympathies,
Linda (and Kevin too)

Linda

We really appreciate your comments. Yes, good times growing up on Briarwood Lane next to the Bostlemans. Love your family. Barb
