Louis R. Steingroot

Louis R. Steingroot, age 84 years, of Toledo passed away June 8, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio following a brave battle with cancer. He was born on March 3, 1933, in Toledo to Philip and Frances Steingroot. Lou was a graduate of Scott High School and the University of Toledo and worked as a CPA and bookkeeper for over fifty years. He enjoyed playing tennis and spending time with family and friends. An active member of the Congregation Etz Chayim, where he had made many friends over the years. Lou was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed terribly by everyone that knew him. Lou is survived by his children, Francine B. Thanasiu, Philip D. Steingroot and Michelle (Brian) Marcum; grandson, Nicholas Thanasiu and granddaughters, Samantha, Hannah and Abby Marcum. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane; parents, Philip and Frances Steingroot; brothers, Daniel (Ruth) Steingroot, Samuel (Ellen) Steingroot, Morris (Amy) Steingroot and Albert (Arlene) Steingroot and sisters, Ida (Leland) Ziegler and Bertha Steingroot. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017 in the Robert H. Wick/Wisniewski Funeral Home 2426 North Reynolds Rd. (419-535-5840) with interment to follow at Eagle Point Cemetery, Rossford, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Congregation Etz Chayim of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
