Russell was born on October 31, 1925 to Gerald and Dolores (Haley) Blasius in Custar, OH and passed away March 25, 2017. Russ graduated from Waite High School in 1943 and was employed with the B&O Railroad. In June 1943 he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in the South Pacific and Japan for five years he then returned to work on the B&O Railroad. In 1954 he went to work as a letter carrier in Oregon, OH for the U.S. Postal Service retiring in 1983. On August 14, 1954 he married Norma Paeplow and they had one daughter, Sally Jo (Bernie) Albert and an adopted daughter, Mary Jane Hicks Turner (deceased). Mary had two children, Christie (Robbie) Baety and Robert Ferguson. Russ also had four step-grandchildren; and 3 honorary grandchildren, Natalie, Olivia and Ever Davis. Russ and Norma were volunteers for mobile meals from 1986 until 2016 and members of the Oregon AARP. They enjoyed camping with their two daughters for a number of years. Russ had one sister, Thelma (Robert) Frobek; and a nephew, Michael, who preceded him. Russell is survived by his wife, Norma; and daughter, Sally (Bernie) Albert. There will be no visitation.
