James L. Oess

On April 23, 2024, the life of James L. Oess came to a final rest. After a brief illness, Jim's spirit left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
He graduated from Blessed Sacrament grade school in 1962, and St. Francis de Sales High School in 1966. He earned his degree in engineering from the University of Toledo in 1980. He worked at Dana Corporation from 1973 to retirement in 2008.
He married Mara Pinto on July 27, 1974, who passed away in 2015 from Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Frances Oess.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Susan (Ed Kaiser) and sister-in-law, Francine (Gary Johnson).
Also dear to him are four nieces and one nephew, four great nieces, four great nephews and many beloved cousins.
Jim was strong in his Catholic faith and was a head usher at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Toledo, a member of their school board and called bingo on Thursdays. He also volunteered at the Alzheimer Association in Maumee, Ohio, running support groups for caregivers as well as counseling for those dealing with that aggressive and insidious disease.
Friends are invited to visit from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024 in the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd. Toledo, OH. 43615  where a prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday May 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 6145 Hill Ave. Toledo, OH. 43615.
Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Ohio.
