Lou Ann Forche passed away peacefully at Flower Hospital on February 21, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 89 years old.
Lou Ann was born on November 29, 1934, to Walter and Stella (Ratajczak) Kania. She grew up on her family’s 80-acre farm in Oak Harbor, Ohio, and later moved to Toledo, where she attended Central Catholic High School. After graduating, she earned her Registered Nursing License at Mercy College of Ohio.
Despite living in the city, Lou Ann remained a farm girl at heart, evident in her bountiful love and care for the wildlife that frequented her yard. She also had an exceptional green thumb, as seen in her rose and produce gardens, grape vines, and small catnip patches.
Lou Ann and her husband Robert met after being set up on a blind date by mutual friends, and they soon married. Together, they raised four boys. Lou Ann and Robert enjoyed volunteering, baking, and being active members of their church, Little Flower Catholic Parish.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her son James, and seven siblings. Lou Ann is survived by her sons Jeffrey (Jennifer), Steven (Kathleen), and John (Tamara); daughter-in-law Cathleen; grandchildren Danny, Rachel, Katie, Lauren, Matt, Jessie, Kristen, Lindsey, Alex, Andy, Ben, Nick, and Jay; five great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Morris, and Smokey, her stubborn cat.
The family extends their gratitude to the caring staff of the fourth floor ICU at Flower Hospital for their exceptional care and support.
A prayer service for Lou Ann will be held on March 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial tributes may be made to your local animal shelter or rescue organization. Arrangements are under the care of Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 419-531-4424.
