Dennis M. Dobrak, age 62, passed away on Monday June 19th following a very short but extremely courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born to Sylvester and Helena Dobrak on Nov 13th 1954 in Toledo, Ohio. He was a graduate of Woodward High School and obtained his teaching certificate from the University of Toledo. Retiring from Skilled Trades in 2007, he was employed by Chrysler Jeep for 30 years. Dennis also taught Machine Shop Skills at Penta-County Vocational, Macomber and Rogers High Schools. He had an unique ability to connect to his students and was known as Mr. “D” Dennis was a dedicated family man to his wife and two sons. He was an extremely generous man who was always called upon because of his endless skill, knowledge, and talents.
He had a knack for fixing or repairing anything.He enjoyed traveling, fishing, attending sporting events, and during his retirement became quite the cook. One of his greatest joys was the companionship of his two rescue dogs Buddy and Stash. His hobbies included woodworking, making unique ink pens, collecting antique tools and wrenching on cars.He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Deb; sons, Ryan, and Aaron (Jocelyn); mother, Helena Dobrak; sisters, Bridget (Keith) Willis, Linda Molenda, Barbara Zychowicz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester.The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care from the Doctors and Nurses at the Cleveland Clinic and Michael Rivera in the Medical ICU at the U of M Medical Center. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 25, from 2-8 p.m. at the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Road, Toledo. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Little Flower Catholic Church on Monday, June 26, at 11 a.m. where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations to the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.
