Edwin Knapik Obituary

Edwin "Ed" Knapik

Ed Knapik passed away peacefully in his home on Monday December 3, 2018 at the age of 92. Ed was born on May 4, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Joseph and Josephine Knapik. Ed is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 70 years, Delphine (Dolly Czerniak) Knapik, one son, Kenneth, daughter in law Marian, three grandchildren Kristin (Kevin) Harris, Janelle (Joe) Lubomirski, and Nicole (Jeff) Dodd. Other survivors include sisters in law Christine, Alice, and Mary Knapik. In addition, Ed was blessed with 9 great grandchildren (Samuel and Sadie Harris, Kateri, Theo, Boyd, and Zelie Lubomirski, Benjamin, Bailey, and Graham Dodd,) special nieces Carol (Nick) Stolarski, Jennifer Hogrefe, and many other loving family members and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his brothers Ted, Casey, Joe, and Stanley, and his sister Jean Muszynski.

Ed worked for 50 years as a salesman for EPM Corporation. Previously, Ed served in the US Army as a Jeep Engine Instructor in Japan during the Korean War. Also, Ed was a member of VFW Post #5530.

Ed was a people person, he loved to bowl and play golf. Sunday golf was a fixture for many years – Ed always said that he would have been a better golfer if he learned to play right handed. He was a loving father and grandfather; family meant everything to Ed. Ed and Dolly loved to travel – trips to Aruba, Hawaii, Spain, Mexico, and bus trips to numerous casinos. Ed also loved big band instrumental music and polkas. Ed was a sports nut; he was a long time Tiger fan.

Ed was an active member of St. Hyacinth Parish where he participated in the Senior Group, and volunteered as an usher, money counter, and festival worker.
