Florian Grunberg

Our beloved Saaba, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and kind friend to everyone who knew him, Florian Grunberg, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Everyone who knew this kind, gentle soul fell in love with him immediately. A man with amazing wisdom, strong religious beliefs, and work ethic. He touched each of our lives forever to be etched in our hearts.

Florian was born in Bucharest, Romania on December 26, 1926, and then immigrated to Ellis Island in September 1951 with his beloved wife, Herta. Together, they worked and made a beautiful life together, raising Shirley and Jeff. Florian also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter, Kennedy. He was a devoted member of the Congregation Etz Chayim and Bnai Brith Men's organization.

Florian is survived by his daughter, Shirley (Alan) Tarschis; son, Jeffery Grunberg (Sandra); grandsons, Joshua (Chelsea), Torrey (Mallory), Devon, Jordan, Jared; granddaughter, Ashley (Alex); great-granddaughter, Kennedy; sister, Lizetta Lauber; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Herta Grunberg; brothers, David and Herman.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Beth Shalom Cemetery, 420 Otter Creek Rd., Oregon, Ohio 43616.

Memorial Contribution may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Congregation Etz Chayim, Toledo.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and to all of Florian's special friends at Congregation Etz Chayim that took him to shul.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of Shirley and Alan Tarschis in Sylvania.
