Francis J. Mick, 89, went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2018. He was born to Robert and Emma Mick in Hamilton, Ohio on March 1, 1929. While serving as a Navy corpsman from 1948-52 at Chelsea Naval Hospital, he met his beloved wife, Mary Jane. After moving to Toledo in 1952, he began a career in sales at Gross Electric.
Among his notable accomplishments include founding Mick Electric Co., Inc. in 1971, where he displayed a tremendous focus on service. Frank was a devoted husband for fifty-one years until Mary Jane's death in 2003. Later marrying Virginia, he showed incredible dedication to her until her passing in 2016. For many years, Frank was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and member of the Reynolds Corners Rotary Club. He was a world traveler who enjoyed story-telling, running, playing piano, singing, and bringing a smile to the face of everyone he encountered. Among the memorable quotes that inspired his life included, "Happiness is anticipating the needs of others." Frank will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
In addition to Mary Jane and Ginny, preceding him in death are his mother and father, brothers, Robert, Lawrence, Richard, and sister, Joan. He is survived by his sons, Gregory (Frances), Michael, and Robert, granddaughter, Kathleen, sister-in-law, Mary Margaret, a host of beloved nieces and nephews, and Ginny's relatives as well, including her daughter, Jana and son, David.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, at Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Rd. from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Ave. on Friday, January 4, at 10:00 a.m. with interment following at Resurrection Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
"Smiles" poem written by Frank in 1944: "Smile a while, and when you smile, another smiles. And soon, there's miles and miles of smiles, and life's just more worthwhile, all because you smiled."
