Lilly Foraster-Yourist

Lilly Foraster-Yourist, 91, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2018 at The Toledo Hospital. Lilly was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 26, 1927 to Jacob and Fanny (Frankel) Foraster. Lilly and her sisters were raised by their mother after their father died in a tragic train accident in 1932. She was a 1945 graduate of Scott High School. Lilly is best remembered as co-owner, with her late husband Leo, of Leo's Book Shop in downtown Toledo.

Lilly was a proud and active member of Congregation Etz Chayim. She served many years as President of their Sisterhood. Lilly was an avid reader and writer. She also volunteered extensively in the Toledo community.

Surviving are her sons, Dr. Jay Yourist (Jacqueline), Daryl Yourist (Jolene); her daughter, Melanie Woodby (Thomas); three grandchildren, Amy Krumm, Brian Yourist, Falyn Woodby, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Lilly was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, Leo; sister, Annette Gould; and twin sister, Pearl Yourist-Jaffe.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 21 at 11 a.m. at Robert H. Wick/Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615. Interment at Beth Shalom Cemetery, Oregon, Ohio.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Congregation Etz Chayim or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Lilly's favorite charity.

The family would like to thank Lilly's many caregivers: Dr. Elizabeth Hoffman, Robin Heffelfinger, Dr. Nina Al-Sabbagh and Tracy Seifert.

Lilly was a strong, devout, fierce, independent, spit-fire of a woman who viewed life with much optimism. As she would say, "May we all win the lottery of good health and happiness."
