Marcia G. Friedman
Marcia G. Friedman of Sylvania, Ohio, formerly Rochester, New York, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Friday, September 14, 2018. Born in Rochester, New York, on August 31, 1927, she was the daughter of Sol and Selma Guttenberg. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Arthur M. Friedman, in Rochester, New York.
Marcia worked as a travel agent in her early years. Following her husband in his career, she, along with their two sons, relocated to Detroit, Michigan, for a short period before settling in the Toledo area. Working as an administrative assistant for University of Toledo Office of Undergraduate Admissions, she enjoyed a twenty-year career until retiring in the 1980s.
She and her husband, Arthur, were actively involved in the Toledo area Jewish community while belonging to Congregation B'nai Israel. She aided in various activities, including Congregation B'nai Israel's annual rummage sale. Throughout the years, she also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her son, Richard Friedman; husband, Arthur Friedman; sisters-in-law, Lillian (Abraham) Eramus, Ivy (Manny) Phillips, and Adele Striker; and parents, Sol and Selma Guttenburg. Surviving are her son, Mark; grandchildren, Shawn Friedman, Adam (Jessica) Friedman, and Lindsay (Blaine) Kuneman; and great-grandchildren, Katelynn Friedman-Lawson and Hendrix Levi Arthur Kuneman. Numerous nieces and nephews will also fondly remember her.
Graveside funeral Services will be held at Beth Shalom Cemetery at 420 Otter Creek Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Monday, September 17, 2018, at 1 p.m. with interment following. The family will receive guests beginning in the afternoon on Monday, September 17, 2018, for seven days, (excluding Tuesday night and all day Wednesday) at West Park Place on 3501 Executive Parkway, Toledo, Ohio 43606.
