Marian E. (Hoover) Turpening

Marian Eleanor Turpening, 91, of Toledo, passed away at home surrounded by her loving husband and children on Friday, December 27, 2019. She was born in Toledo on October 2, 1928 to Clara (Beard) and Chester Hoover.

Marian graduated from Libbey High School in 1946, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She worked for Ohio Bell as a cashier and then at a finance company. During this time she met and married the love of her life, George A. Turpening, Jr. After the birth of her children, she dedicated her life to caring for her home and family. She especially enjoyed working in her flower garden and gathering with her family for holidays and special events.

She is survived by her husband, George A. Turpening Jr., their children, Terrence (Peg) Turpening, Kelly (Dave) Rejent, and George (Julie) Turpening III, her sister Nina Leitzy and brother Sam Hoover, grandchildren Kerry (Mike) Burgdofer, Pete (Becky) Rejent, Sarah Turpening, Karen (Andrew) Dziengelewski, Kylie (Rob) Sislowski, Phil (Leslie) Mahaney and great grandchildren Jacob, Liam, Brianna, Sarah, Emma, Sam, Kristopher, Allison, Camren, Crystal, Jonathan, Oliver, and the newest addition to the family, Bryce.

The family would like to thank Ohio Living Hospice for the great care they provided, especially Ellen and Cathy who were long time caregivers of Marian.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020, 2:00-8:00 PM at the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Rd, Toledo, OH 43615. Funeral services will be held Friday morning, January 3, 2020 at the funeral home, followed by interment at Toledo Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
