Marjorie Z. Kaplin, age 90, passed away on October 25, 2017. The daughter of Gertrude and Max Zaller, Margie was born April 11, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Scott High School in 1945, and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1949. Throughout her life, Margie actively supported many community organizations, notably Planned Parenthood, The Toledo Museum of Art, The Toledo Symphony, the Toledo Zoo, and The United Jewish Council of Greater Toledo. She was
a lifelong member of Temple Congregation Shomer Emunim. She is survived by three children, Julian (Walter), David (Cerinda), and Linda (Rosie); three grandchildren, Benjamin (KaraFern), Gwendolyn, and Jonathan, and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Kaplin and many nieces and nephews, including Susan Goldstein of Phoenix, William Kaplin of Cleveland and Marcy Marchbein of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her aunt, Sarah Steinem; her beloved sister, Kathleen; her two young nephews, Russell Kardon and Richard Kaplin; her sister-inlaw, Freddie Kaplin and her brothers-in-law, Maury and Richard Kaplin. In accordance with Margie’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation. The family suggests that tributes be made to charities of the donor’s choice.
