Mary Alice Earl, 87, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully into God's loving arms on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Mary was born on July 31, 1930, in Oregon, OH, to Joseph Mary Hollo. She graduated from Clay High School in 1948. Mary met the love of her life, Robert Earl during a summer vacation at Indian Lake with her girlfriend. Robert and Mary were married April 14, 1951, and were blessed with three wonderful children, sons Jim, Bob Jr., and daughter Mary.
Mary was a lifelong member of Little Flower Parish. She was a proud mother, musician, poet and cook (ask about her home made Paprikash). She is a published author of reflective poetry written while her husband Robert was in the Army, and on the road touring with his famous Polka Band. Mary was always there to help with the various family businesses over the years in addition to raising a family, caring for her parents and her grandchildren.
Mary was a passionate music lover all of her life. She started piano lessons as a child, which were interrupted by WWII. Mary continued to play ragtime, pop standards, classics such as Debussy's Clar De Lune and the old standby Lady of Spain until nearly the end of her life.
After the passing of her beloved husband Robert in 2014, Mary moved in with her daughter Mary's family who served as her loving caregivers, with whom she continued to enjoy all of her family and her music.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Robert Earl Sr., and furry companion Coco, who passed away the day before. Mary was blessed with a loving extended family that only a week prior, had her on the boat at the lake with Jim, Bob and grand kids for one last party.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jim Earl (Diana), Robert Earl Jr. (Sandy); daughter, Mary Booth (Jeff); grandchildren, Jeffrey Booth, Meghan Booth, Holly Lashaway (J.D.), Daniel Earl (Salli), Brian Earl, Tammy Grayson (Jeff), James Earl, Jr. (Nicole), Crissy George (Shannon), Brandy Rogers (Jay), Rich Earl (Rachel) and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request tributes for Mary be sent to the wonderful people at Hospice of Toledo, who had cared for Mary and been so much help to her daughter.
