Neil Louis Vorderbruggen

Neil L. Vorderbruggen, age 66, born on September 13, 1951, recently a resident of the Franciscan Care Center and affectionately known as Toledo's own "Polka Ambassador" was reunited with the Lord and his parents after leaving the care of his sister Sharon Tucholski on February 6, 2018. Born in Toledo to Louis and Irene Mroczkowski Vorderbruggen, he attended Jay Shuer School and was employed with Lott Industries in Holland, OH for 30 years. Devoted to the Toledo area Polka Community, he became known to many fans as the Touch of Brass' sixth band member.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother-in-law Joe Tucholski.

Surviving are his sister, Sharon Tucholski; nieces, Yvonne (Phil) Cook, Andrea Tucholski; nephew, Joel (Lisa) Tucholski; also great-nieces and nephews, Caitlyn, Kristen, Kevin, Claira, Lindsey, Brandon and Taryn.

Sharon and family wish to thank Sister Jordan Schaefer and the staff of the Franciscan Care Center, family friend Larry Wozniak and many special friends for their care and support.

Neil was a special blessing to friends and family.

A Polka Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Hyacinth Church on Saturday February 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. with receiving of family and friends beginning at 10 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial tributes suggested to Franciscan Care Center in memory of Neil, Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities Memorial Fund, and St. Hyacinth Catholic Church.
