Tobie Lee Gill, age 66, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the University of Michigan Hospital, with his daughter Heather by his side. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 6, 1952 to Dixon and Dorothy (Burchell) Gill. Tobie resided with his girlfriend, Brenda Tinsley, in Toledo. He had a great love for being on his boat fishing in Lake Erie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his only daughter, Heather (John) Hoenig; grandson Ryan Hoenig; sisters Theresa Westphal (Lamar), Kathie (Gary) Waterstradt, Gena (Steve) Hoeft; brothers Richard (Krystal) Gill, John (Sandy) Gill and Harold (Denise) Cowden, Jr.: and many nieces and nephews. Tobie was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Harold Cowden, Sr., grandsons Andrew and Dylan Hoenig and Heather's mother Judith McNutt-Young.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Epic Center 124 Main St. Swanton, OH. 43558 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Military honors will be presented at 7:00 p.m. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Donations can be made to Heather, as she will be going to Arlington to be with her Dad as he is laid to rest.
