Virginia L. (Hahn) Wooster

Virginia Wooster enjoyed a long and beautiful life. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 26, 1919. She grew up in Ottawa Hills, the oldest child of Alice (Thobe) Hahn and Alfred A. Hahn, a prominent architect in the Toledo area. Ginny graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1939. She then attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she met the love of her life, Ward H. Wooster from Oberlin, Ohio. On August 12, 1942 they had a small wedding in New York before Ward left to fly soldiers wounded in the war back to the U.S. Later they purchased a small airplane and enjoyed many adventures together, flying to exotic places. The Bahamas was one of their favorites. In 1954 Ward and Ginny established Mobile Communications, Inc., a very successful two-way radio business in Toledo. Ward ran the technical part and Ginny ran the business office where her organizational skills and math expertise were put to good use. They were a great team, receiving several awards from Motorola for being one of the top service companies in the nation. Besides being successful in business, Virginia was an excellent bridge player and teacher. She also had an artistic flair which made her an exceptional seamstress and a creative potter. At social occasions, like Welcome Wagon, hootenannies and neighborhood parties, her smile would light up the room! With her magnetic personality, she never let life pass her by. She and Ward always had fun together. Whereever they went they always made friends. Life was an  adventure for them. Her most important roles were as a devoted wife and mother. Ward paid tribute to her before his death by saying, “Very few men have loved their wife as much as I have loved your mother.” Both said they were lucky....and they were!
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters. Christine (Warren) Monday, lives in Toledo, and Leslie (Jay) Black, lives in Logan, Utah. Both enjoyed successful teaching careers. They said, “She was the wind beneath our wings. We are grateful for the fine example of parents who lived fully and loved deeply”. Her three younger siblings, Alfred Jr., Mary Rose (Vanica), and Walter preceded her in death. Virginia is survived by her 2 daughters; 4 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter.  A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held by the family July 8, in Toledo.  Burial will be in Oberlin, Ohio. 419-531-4424.  www.wisniewskifuneral.net
