Albie Romanoff, 87 years old, died July 3rd, in her home at West Park Place.
Albie(Alberta) S. Romanoff was born on January 27th, 1937 in Chicago Illinois to Ann and Lester Steiner. She graduated from Fenger H.S in 1955. She was accepted to The Ohio State University. She arrived on Campus, never having been there, and began her bachelor’s program in Social Administration.
On her first day of classes in the fall of 1955 she met husband to be Rollie Romanoff.
They dated for 3 years, and married in June of 1958.
3 children followed, Twins Lisa and Linda were born in 1960 while Rollie was a Junior in law school at OSU. In March of 1963, their third child-another daughter Beth was born in Toledo.
While the children were at Lincolnshire Elementary School, Albie was active in the PTA.
She also was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. In addition, Albie was the neighborhood “Mom”
All the kids loved coming to the Romanoff House for Albie’s delicious baked goods.
She was also a Foodie before it was a thing. She was involved in the Toledo Bar Association Auxiliary Gourmet Group. Her family was fortunate enough to enjoy all the wonderful food she cooked.
As the children grew older, Albie went back to work at a variety of jobs, including the March of Dimes, The Legal Centers, Burt Rose Enterprises, Temple B’nai Israel, Toledo Jewish Federation, and she completed her work experience at The Fresh Market. She found work fulfilling, and loved the people contact.
There are 8 grandchildren that she showered her affection upon. They all loved Bubby’s Pancakes and chocolate dipped macaroons.
Left to cherish Albie’s memory are her husband of 66 years, Rollind (Rollie) Romanoff, daughters Lisa (Steve) Botos, Linda (Jon) Kurtin, and Beth (Tom) Hamway, grandchildren Tilman & Lindsay Nadolski, Evan Botos, Liam Botos and fiancé Ila, Berni Kurtin, Hannah and Eli Sandford, Griffin and Leah Lahre, Robert and Chloe Lahre, and Sydney Lahre and one great grandchild, Jack Lahre, and bonus grandchildren, Elizabeth Hamway, Ashley Hamway and fiancé Ryan Zawacki, and Thomas Hamway.
She was predeceased by her Sister Lenore Zake.
Albie’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday July 7, 2024 at Temple Shomer Emunim, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Following interment, the family will receive guests at a meal of condolence from 1PM-3PM at Temple Shomer Emunim, 6453 Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania, Ohio.
