Arlene Rose Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of James and Arlene Rose, a devoted couple who left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone they touched. Married for 65 years, they died in an auto accident on April 21, 2025, in Boca Raton, Florida, leaving a void that can never be filled. Jimmy was 88 years old and Arlene was 87 years old.

They died like they lived - together, as they always were. Their bond was unbreakable, and even in death, they remain inseparable.

Jimmy, as he was affectionately known to those who knew him best, was born on January 15, 1937, in New York City, growing up in the vibrant Washington Heights neighborhood. A bright and ambitious young man, he graduated from George Washington High School at the age of 17. Jim then moved to Toledo, Ohio, where he pursued his passion for pharmacy at the University of Toledo. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful career.

It was at Friday night services at Temple B'nai Jacob that Jim met his soulmate, Arlene Henning, born on April 15, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio. Arlene, a proud graduate of Scott High School, shared Jim's values and sense of humor. They were married on July 10, 1960, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Arlene was a woman of remarkable wit, charm, and warm heartedness. Her ability to create lifelong friendships was a hallmark of her personality, and she is remembered fondly by all who knew her. A gifted bridge player, Arlene was a multiple-time duplicate bridge Life Master, with a card sense that was second to none. Her passion for the game was matched only by her love for her family and friends.

Jim's career as a pharmacist eventually led him to leverage his chemistry and industrial knowledge to found Syntech Products Corporation in 1974. Starting humbly in the basement of their home, the company soon relocated to a more permanent facility, where it thrived for nearly 40 years. Jim's vision, hard work, and dedication made him a respected entrepreneur and employer in the community.

Jim and Arlene shared a love for sports, enjoying tennis, golf, basketball, and notably the WNBA, which Arlene followed with great enthusiasm. Their shared interests brought them closer together and provided a common ground for connection with others.

Jim was more than just a father to his children; he was a father figure to many, offering guidance, support, and kindness to those around him. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

James and Arlene are survived by their children, Jeff and Vicki, and a vast network of friends, colleagues, and admirers who will deeply miss them. Their love, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten. Jim is predeceased by his sister Marilyn Peizer (Rose).

A joint funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 29th at 10:30 am at Temple Shomer Emunim, 6453 W Sylvania Ave.
