Arnold L. Maurer, died on December 1, 2025, at Ayden Healthcare of Waterville after a long illness. He resided in Toledo for about 30 years.

Arnold grew up in the Albany, NY, area and after high school went to Plattsburgh State University of NY, where he graduated in 1971. He then became a Union representative for Service Employees International Union and worked in several places over a 30 year career. He spent time in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Louisville, and finally Toledo, where he retired.

Early on, Arnold was married to Helen, and they had a beautiful daughter, Cindy.

In Toledo, Arnold met his longtime partner and soulmate, Carol Bartok. It happened on a union campaign. Arnold and Carol eventually became a permanent couple, and they lived together along with Carol's son, Mike.

Arnold stayed active after retirement in politics and union concerns. Only illness slowed him down. After a long struggle he was unable to live at home any longer and spent the rest of his life in extended care.

Arnold is survived by his daughter, Cindy Maurer; brother, Richard Maurer; partner, Carol Bartok; and a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., in the Robert H. WICK/Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43615. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
