Barbara Jean (Morris) Fisher, age 98 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, October 4, 2025.
Barbara was born on July 20, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to Valera and Everett Morris. She grew up in Hudson Michigan and after graduating from high school, moved to Toledo, Ohio. She entered the WW II Cadet Nursing Corps training at Riverside Hospital, graduation as a registered nurse in 1948. It was there that she met her future husband Norman E. Fisher, an obstetrician and gynecologist. They married in 1950.
Compassion and a genuine desire to care for others were the essence of her being. She loved cooking and was an especially talented baker. She was renowned for her cookies and shared them generously. She was also a passionate gardener and for many years managed multiple large garden beds and made beautiful flower arrangements for the lobby of her condominium and her friends. Her artistic gifts extended to jewelry-making, where her creations drew many admiring compliments.
She lived nearly a century and will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness, humor, generosity and the many lives she enriched with her warm personality.
Barbara is survived by children Phillip H. Fisher, MD (Jean Gerard), Monica Fisher, Jessica Fisher (Fred Grossman,MD), grandchildren Michael Fisher (Anya), David Fisher (Rachel) and Rebecca Lambert (Brian) and great grandchildren Reese and Blake Lambert, and Emma and Mia Fisher. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Glen Morris and sister Pamela (Morris) Walker.
A graveside service will be at Beth Shalom Cemetery, Oregon, Ohio on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.
