Benjamin Evan Goldstein Obituary
Benjamin Evan Goldstein died April 1st, 2026; he was 63.
Ben was born in Los Angeles, CA, but truly grew up in Sylvania, OH. He graduated in 1981 from Sylvania Southview, where he was a state wrestler. His love of camping and being outdoors took hold during many vacations in the family's various motor homes. A highlight was being in Boston for the USA's bicentennial 4th of July.
He continued truckin' across the states as a sales specialist working for Kodak Films. Ben would move in with Sheldon in Monterey, CA. That's where they got on the bus and became Dead Heads, eventually seeing 100s of shows and camping in almost every west coast state. He was working at Marie Callender's when offered a promotion with a relocation to Maui, HI.
Being a Mench like his father, he first secured all his roommates' jobs before accepting. They were having a high time livin' the good life in Maui for five chill years – enjoying the sun, surf and snorkeling before returning to California's Dana Point Harbor. A highlight of those years was the California to Vermont train trip to stay at roommate, Eric Blondin's, family farm. Ben and Eric would return for several summers to work in Lake Champlain. After years of waiting tables, Ben decided on a career change and moved back to Ohio where he graduated from Rio Grande University. That led to a union job as a carpenter for Lakeside Construction.
Set up on a blind date at Raceway Park, Ben made a lifetime bet on Dawn Manning and hit a family exacta with Abi and Noah. As a family they loved their pets, and no surprise, camping and traveling. Cedar Point trips were favorite family fun days. But their stay at Disney World was the most magical.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Marge. We will get by, we will survive: Dawn (wife); Abigail (daughter); Noah (son); brothers, Sheldon (Wendy), Marshall (Jodie); and sister, Rochelle (Joe) Barchick, and all their families.
Ben's funeral service will take place on Monday, April 6th 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at Temple Shomer Emunim, 6453 Sylvania Ave, Sylvania, OH, followed by interment at Eagle Point Cemetery.
