Cynthia Marie Petretich, age 55, passed away Tuesday October 13, 2020 at home. Cindy was born on May 29, 1965 in Youngstown, Ohio to Stephen J. and Catherine M. Petretich. She received her Bachelors degree in Chemistry and Masters degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Youngstown State University. Cindy's professional career was focused on water quality, which included research involving Zebra Mussels and Lake Erie water quality, as well as her positions at both First Energy and the Ohio EPA. She was a past member of the Od Srca Adult Tamburitzans of Youngstown, Ohio which highlighted her musical talent and mastering of the Croatian Tamburitzan instruments and the accordion. She was an Associate of the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania where she enjoyed volunteer work, especially at Sister Gretchen's Kitchen. She was also active in Science Alliance for Valuing the Environment (SAVE). She was a parishioner of both the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, Vienna, Ohio and Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral Parish in Toledo, Ohio.
Surviving are her sisters, Cathy (Barry) Petretich-Lowe, Deborah (Richard) Templeton, Christine (Hatem) El-Gendi and Judith (John) Klein. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive guests on Friday October 16, 2020 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home 2426 North Reynolds Rd. Toledo, OH. 43615, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday October 17, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Cathedral 2535 Collingwood Blvd. Toledo, OH. 43610. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio. Memorial donations are suggested to Sister Gretchen's Kitchen c/o the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania.
