Diana Lipszyc Obituary

True strength is rooted in kindness, and Diana Lipszyc exuded both. After a long battle with cancer for the second time, she peacefully passed away on July 4, 2026, surrounded with love and her family at her side.

Diana was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Holocaust survivors who rebuilt their lives after the war. She met her husband, Jack, in high school on a blind double date; they later married and settled in Toledo, OH in 1975 to raise a family.

In Toledo, Diana built a strong community of friends through her volunteering and engagement within the Jewish community. She raised her three children, Brian, Sarah and Michelle, with optimism and a lot of humor, passing down Jewish traditions through her cooking and holiday gatherings. She loved theater, travel, tennis, baking, and using her creativity.

Diana and Jack built the gourmet popcorn retail store, Popcorn Express, which they operated for 7 years. Later, she earned a paralegal degree and spent over 15 years at the Toledo Bar Association as Director of Lawyer Referral — helping people by listening and finding them the right lawyer.

Diana is survived by her husband, Jack; children Brian (Debbie), Sarah (Matthew) Forti, and Michelle (Andrew) Read; grandchildren Emily, Ben and Hannah; and brother Jim (Karen) Lesky.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 6 at Congregation B’nai Israel. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Victory Center (thevictorycenter.org) are welcome.
