Dolores Ann (Case) Czerniak

Our precious mother, Dolores A. Czerniak, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 1, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, at St. Vincent Hospital to Henry and Edna (Resig) Case.

She married Michael Czerniak on June 6, 1953, and celebrated 60 years of marriage.

A 1951 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Working at the Flower Market and then started at Owens Corning Federal Credit Union as a loan officer most of her career. She remained at this job until she retired.

Dolores married the love of her life, Michael V. Czerniak, in 1953, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage, building a life of love and family centered around her faith.

Her greatest joy in life was building her family, as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and mother to her fur companion dog, Lily.

Dolores was a kind and caring lady. She was extremely strong and showed her family how to persevere through tough times. She herself overcame many obstacles in her later years and found the strength to live on. She showed compassion and love to others through her smile and her gift of time.

Dolores loved traveling, reading, going to the movies, shopping, and her love of doll making. Dolores spent many years attending Notre Dame Football games with her family. Chicago was one of her truly loved places to visit. She was a very active lady, up on all modern technology because she didn't want to miss anything, also she loved driving her car, she said she could drive better than she could walk. She also sponsored therapy dogs (Ability Center) for those in need and felt great joy when she was able to meet their new owners.

Dolores had a fondness for coffee, ice cream, and popcorn, and especially peanut butter toast, and going to the movies.

Dolores was a very special lady and had a true heart of gold which everyone around her could see and feel just being with her.

Dolores was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Michael V. Czerniak; her special angel in heaven, her daughter, Diane Weinrich (2026); along with her parents, Henry and Edna Case.

Dolores is survived by her children: son, Steven (Cindy) Czerniak Sr., their children, Steven (Jennifer) Jr., Scott (Angela), and Philip (Lauren) Czerniak; daughter, Linda (Paul) Hamel, and their children, Kevin (Sandra) Hamel, Melissa (Sparky) Kanaval and Sandra (Chris Bonnar); daughter, Karen (John) Glover, and their children, Jessica (Josh) Winright, Nicholas (Nicole) Glover and Andrew Glover; son-in-law, Thomas Weinrich, along with his children, Michael (Salina) Weinrich, Matthew (Marla) Weinrich and Angela (BJ) Grieve.

Dolores also leave behind her great-grandchildren, Danielle Slayton, Brian, Elizabeth and Matthew Hamel, Lucas and Mallory Wholehan, Zachary and Emily Bonnar, Lydia and Hannah Weinrich, Molly, Hattie and Tommy Weinrich, and Riley, Tanner and Brantley Winright, Elliott Czerniak and Morgan Grieve; and her sister, Susan Glass; Dolores's great-great-grandchild, Gabe Slayton.

Special thank you to Northwest Ohio Hospice, especially her nurses, Lysa and Brandi, for the loving care they gave Dolores.

Also her Caregivers, Laura, Crystel, Helen and Bonnie, for the passionate care they gave to Dolores and her family.

The family will receive friends at the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43615, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Monsignor Michael R. Billian officiating, at the Historic Church of St. Patrick, located at 130 Avondale Ave., Toledo, Ohio.
