Elaine J. Perzynski Obituary

After living for 93 amazing years, Elaine J. (Lykowski) Perzynski, of Toledo, Ohio, took her last breath on February 25, 2021, and then was welcomed into Heaven. She was born on November 19, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph and Julia (Templin) Lykowski. Elaine graduated from Woodward High School in 1945 where she was a drum majorette. She worked briefly as a cosmetologist, then as the librarian at Our Lady of Lourdes School, but most of her working years were spent as a statistician for The Diocese of Toledo (Catholic Charities) until her retirement.

Elaine was born and raised in North Toledo, but moved to her present home shortly after her parents moved from the Polish Village to be closer to them. Elaine was a very active parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish and helped for many years at their summer festivals by doing face painting. Elaine belonged to several different organizations including Toledo Area Polka Society, Przybylski Post No. 642 American Legion, and the Daughters of Mary. Her proudest memberships though were to the Toledo Craftsman's Guild and The National Society of Decorative Painters. As many of you know, Elaine was a very talented artist and crafter. She spent many hours designing and painting pieces that she would sell at craft shows. Elaine was also very proud to say she once had a Christmas ornament hang on the White House Christmas tree. Many of us are so lucky to have her artwork in our homes that we can look at to remember her.

Elaine experienced and witnessed many things in her 93 years. She loved to travel and visited many places, including Poland and Austria with her husband, Al and the Imperials of Toledo Polka Band. Elaine loved to attend Polka events and with her husband, and together they wrote the music and lyrics for the Polka Mass that was performed many times throughout the area with the first being in Ottoville, Ohio in 1976. After her retirement, Elaine never slowed down. She helped with grandchildren and great-children and loved being involved in their lives. She taught painting classes out of her own home, and continued to paint her beautiful pictures until just a few weeks ago. Elaine also enjoyed cooking, baking, bowling, reading, and knitting "mooshas" (blankets) for her great-grandchildren.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Julie Beck (Dale); son, Michael Perzynski (Kathryn); grandchildren, Courtney Morse (Joshua), Jacob Beck (Holly), Joseph Perzynski (Shana), McKayla Perzynski (Roy); as well as great-grandchildren, Mason, Maverick, Kenley and Ainsley Morse, Adalynn, Zachary and Dane Beck, Maxwell and Athena Perzynski. Elaine also leaves behind her animal companions, P-nut the dog, and Joe the parrot. She also held numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family very close to her heart.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents;, husband, Al, who she gave her last kiss to on February 1, 1995; sisters, Edythe Lykowski and Louise Luczak; brother, and best friend, Raymond Lykowski; and very close friend of many years, John Czajka.

The Funeral Mass for Elaine will take place on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church preceded by visitation in the church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private with family only at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to Birds and Beaks Rescue and Rehab Animal Shelter. This is a non-profit parrot rescue facility located in Battle Creek, Michigan. Elaine's parrot, Joe, now calls this place home. www.birdsandbeaks.org/donate 517.898.1577

Elaine lived by the words of Saint Paul: "Love is patient; Love is kind … but the greatest of these is love." She wanted everyone whose path she crossed on her lifelong journey to know that she will continue to love you from above. Rest in Peace, BusiLaine.
