Elizabeth Diane (Berning) Meglitsch was born on December 13, 1957 and left this life on March 24, 2025 after a hard fought battle with neuroendocrine cancer. After her diagnosis she was determined to use asy means possible to improve. Lisa got involved with medical trial at the Cleveland Clinic and acknowledged from the beginning that it was possible that it may not help her, but was sure it would lead to help others.
She is survived by her husband and love of her life for 29 years, Eric Meglitsch and sisters Darlene Berning and Charlene Ramsey. Also surviving are nieces Ann Quigley, Kelly Hart and many other nieces and nephews as well as her cousin Terry Fry.
As her condition grew worse, three amazing woman assisted Eric in her care. So much appreciation to Bonnie Cornwall, Deb Garrett and Rose Meglitsch. A special thanks to Steve and Suzanne Magnatta for all their love and support.
A 1975 graduate of Maumee High School, Elizabeth went on to work as a Pharmacy Tech for 46 years. In 1985 she began working at Ryan Pharmacy and retired in 2021.
Lisa was very close to her father, Chuck Berning, who taught her to hunt and fish at their cottage on Marble Lake. Fishing was very relaxing to her and she would catch, clean and cook the fish. She really like bluegill and it was delicious. Her mother, Carole Berning, began to need care and while dealing with cancer, Lisa lovingly took her in and cared for her. Both parents preceded Lisa in death.
She was a member of the IRA Motorcycle Club's Women's Auxiliary and was part of a Tuesday Night Euchre group for 45 years.
Lisa was passionate in all she did. One of those passions was travel. She and Eric took three annual vacations. In the Spring they would go to Las Vegas, Lisa loved the atmosphere and games. Black Jack and video poker were her favorites, but slot machines were good too. In the Summer it was a motorcycle trip. That trip always included an oceanside hotel and a stop at a casino. They stopped at countless casinos just for the day or a few hours off the bike. Are you seeing a pattern here?
Fall was a trip to Lambeau Field to watch the Green Bay Packers. They were both avid Packer and Ohio State Buckeye fans and Lisa enjoyed getting player autographs on Saturday before the game. And surprise, there was also a nearby casino. Lisa was so passionate about the Packers that her bathroom is done in green and yellow with Packer memorabilia on the walls. They took a very special vacation in 2013 to Austria to visit Eric's Aunt Relly and cousin Traudi Ferner. It was definitely a highlight of her life.
Lisa really enjoyed Christmas, but she would shine at Halloween. Her and Eric hosted a yearly party at the IRA clubhouse. The decorations and their costumes were always right on the mark. They also decorated for Trick or Treat complete with a coffin to sit in.
