Gertrude Miriam Levitin, age 85 years, of Toledo, Ohio, died Thursday, September 29th, 2022, at Kobacker House, Columbus, Ohio. Born in Toledo, Gertie was a graduate of Scott High School and worked at Lion Store in the boys department for many years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Gertie was an avid reader and accomplished cook who loved to bake and entertain. Her holiday specialties of mandel bread and potato knishes were second to none. She was a friend to many in both Toledo and Columbus. Gertie was a life-long member of Congregation B'nai Israel.
She is survived by her children, Micki (Joe) of Gahanna, OH, Howard (Jenny) of New Albany, OH and Nancy (Barry) of Dublin, OH; grandchildren, Stephanie Zakas, Joshua (Amanda), Jason Tiemeier (Alexis), Noah Levitin, and Benji Levitin; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jules Zakas and Sloane and Elias Tiemeier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman of 54 years; her parents, Harry and Pauline Shoffer; sister, Evelyn Sandler; and brothers, Leonard and Norman Shoffer.
Services and interment will be held on Sunday, October 2nd, at 12:00 pm in Beth Shalom Cemetery, Oregon, OH. Family and friends will be received at the Hampton Inn, Westgate, Toledo, OH, immediately following. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caring staff of the Kobacker House in Columbus, OH, for their care and support. Memorial tributes suggested in the form of contributions to Congregation B'nai Israel or the Kobacker House (OhioHealth) in Columbus. Arrangements by the Robert H.
