Gregory Samuel Orgel passed away in his home on July 10, 2021 with his parents, grandmother, cat "Snoop" and dog "Darth" at his side. Born on August 3, 1988 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Greg lived to bring joy to others. His smile and sarcastic wit lit up the room from the time he could say his first words. After defying all odds by surviving childhood cancer, he dedicated his life to the wellbeing of others. He attended medical school at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and subsequently completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Texas at Austin. He served on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic in multiple high-volume hospitals in Las Vegas, Nevada, even after learning of his diagnosis of cancer. The lives of others always came before his own. Beyond being a compassionate physician, Greg acted as a friend to many, a loving son, and a role model as an older brother. His last days were spent surrounded by visiting friends from all across the country. His last request was that his funeral serve not to grieve his death, but to celebrate his life.
Greg is survived by his beloved grandmother, Paula Kartman; father, Dr. Ira Orgel; mother, Beth Kartman-Orgel; and brother, Dr. Matthew Orgel.
