Irene M. Martin (Doughty)

Irene M. Martin, age 69, died Wednesday August 25, 2021, at Flower Hospital in Sylvania. She was born in Toledo on January 4, 1952, to Herman and Wynette (Hughes) Martin. Irene was a librarian for 53 years with the Toledo Lucas County Library System. She was also very active at the Toledo Museum of Art, starting out as a volunteer and eventually becoming a head usher for over 36 years at the Peristyle. Irene was a preservationist and was very civically minded, loving the City of Toledo and helping to preserve it's heritage as a member of the Landmarks Preservation Council.

Surviving is her husband of 36 years, John Doughty; their daughter, Amy Doughty; brother, Herman Martin and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Bernard.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 2, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43615, where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Toledo Museum of Art.
