Jerry Chabler, age 86 years, died Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Charter Senior Living in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born in Toledo on January 11, 1935 to Harry and Sara (Berlowitz) Chabler. Jerry valued public service and spent his entire career in civil service. He spent his early career as a Toledo Police officer and later was appointed to many other civil service positions including the Lucas County Port Authority, where he was appointed Chairman in 2002.
Jerry was inducted into the Scott High School Hall of Fame and loved playing golf. His Jewish faith was very important to him and he will be remembered as the Patriarch of his family who cherished the time he spent with family.
Surviving are his daughters, Alyce (Robert) Vaughn and Adreanne Waller; brother, Seymour (Judy) Chabler; and grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Bohland, Brandon (Krista) Bohland, Benjamin (Holly) Bohland, Michael Noser, Nicole (Mark) Oquist, Leah Waller (Michael Criscenti) and Jonathan Waller; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy; his sister, Marilyn Broder; and twin brother, Allan J. Chabler.
Services and interment will be private for the family. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Rachael, Jerry's nurse and Pastor Tim, both with Ohio Living Hospice.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Congregation Etz Chayim or Ohio Living Hospice.
