**In Loving Memory of JoAnn Okun**
JoAnn Okun, beloved wife, mother, nana, and friend, passed away on May 27th, 2024, surrounded by love. She was born on August 4th, 1933, to Harry and Rae Seitz, married the love of her life, Fred Okun, and enjoyed life together for 65 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Geraldine Singer. She lived a life rich in love, laughter, and cherished memories.
JoAnn leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters Robin, Shelly Fruchtman (Gary), Amy Nistel (Barry). Her grandchildren, Zackary Dunivin, Zoe Dunivin (Adam Fisch), Joshua Goldberg (Amanda), Adam Goldberg (Andrea), Cydney Goldberg, Drew Saltzstein (Jenny), Nikki Saltzstein Hochman (Michelle) and three Bonus Grandchildren. Nothing brought JoAnn more joy than her great-grandchildren: Phoebe, Margo, and Aliza Goldberg; Aster Goldberg; Noah Saltzstein, along with six bonus great-grandchildren.
JoAnn and Fred spent many years in BallenIsles, Florida where she enjoyed the warm sun, playing golf, and shopping. Her love for Mahjong brought her together with friends in both Florida and in Toledo. JoAnn was an avid reader and took great satisfaction knitting special creations for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In her later years, JoAnn found comfort and companionship at The Woodlands, where she maintained treasured friendships and forged new connections. Even in her final days, she was surrounded by love and support at Hospice of NW Ohio. Her family is grateful for the compassionate care from a dedicated staff.
JoAnn lived and died on her terms, guided by the motto "better to look good than to feel good". As her grandchildren would say, their Nana ended life on a high note.
