John J. Ehret, Jr., age 90 years, passed away on October 16, 2024. He was born in Toledo on May 21, 1934 to Dorothy (Fisher) and John J. Ehret, Sr. He was a 1952 graduate of Central Catholic High School and married the love of his life Dorrel J. Barker on June 2, 1956. John worked as a bookkeeper with Gulf Oil for 30 years and following retirement worked 27 years as a security guard at the Toledo Museum of Art, retiring at the age of 80. He was a longtime member of Little Flower Catholic Church.
John was a Scout Leader for 25 years with Troop #222 and received the Silver Beaver Award. He was quite the avid reader later in life.
Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Dorrel and their children, Karen (Mark) Matthews, John (Sarah) Ehret, Jim (Julie) Ehret and Christine (Greg) Kasprzak. Also surviving are his sisters, Marge Wachowiak and Beth Veres and grandchildren, Todd and Kelly Matthews and Hayley (Doug) Malfar, Phillip (Blaire) and Collin Ehret, Jameson and Jonathan  Ehret and Ryan and Kevin Kasprzak.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Julie Robb, Mary Greisinger and Richard Ehret.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.in the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home 2426 North Reynolds Rd. Toledo, OH. 43615. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Little Flower Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. that morning. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
