John L. "Jack" Metzger

John (Jack) L. Metzger passed away peacefully on September 3, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born to Frank and Olivia Metzger on May 12, 1937. Jack married the love of his life, Carolyn Schleter on June 25, 1960.

Jack was always there for family and loved working with his hands. If there was a problem he always had the solution. Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn and their children Jacqueline Loar, Jennifer (Eric) Moening, Dianna Metzger, Anthony (Lori) Metzger, Nicholas (Karrie) Metzger, Thomas (Dawn) Metzger, and Jessica Metzger (Tim). Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, sisters Donna Durbin and Nan Hohman.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters Lucy Flechtner, Marsha Gerber, Gertie Hess, Sonny Metzger, Mack Metzger, Theresa Schindler, Rita DeRose, Elizabeth Metzger and Fritz Metzger.

Our Dad was the most devoted father, caring and sweet. He always made time for his kids. He loved to spend time with each one of them riding bikes, camping, ice skating and family activities and of course fixing our many cars. He made each one of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren feel special. He was a longtime union member and an amazing mechanic.

You will always be in our hearts DaddyO.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 7, 2022 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home 2426 North Reynolds Rd. Toledo, OH. 43615. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday September 8, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 6149 Hill Ave. Toledo, OH. 43615 at 11:00 a.m. where the family will receive guests beginning at 10:30 a.m. that morning. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
