Kathryn Amelia Gajewicz, of King Road, Sylvania Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1st, 2023, surrounded by her loving family whom she cherished deeply. Kathie was a strong-willed individual, an amazingly patient woman, who exhibited unconditional love to all those with whom she came in contact. She was a dedicated volunteer for the American Legion Adams Post 553 and served as a Ladies Auxiliary past president advocating for veterans, a cherished friend, and a lover of all dogs, and a few cats. Kathie was a dedicated employee at Hayes Bros. Ornamental Iron Works in Toledo for many years, always cherishing her friendships she made with the staff she so loved to work with. She is most proud of her four children who learned early on that her love of others would be her greatest gift and her legacy. Each of her children have developed into caring and kind individuals who will pass that trait on to their children and grandchildren. Kathie always added new members to her, "family". It wasn't uncommon to find many different people in her home on any given day... family, friends of family, new friends she just had met, foreign exchange students, or even the guy who cut the trees for her. All were invited into her home and all learned quickly that she was someone who was really worth knowing. Kathie adored her eleven grandchildren and would light up whenever they came to visit. She extended that adoration to her seven great-grandchildren who brought energy and light to her home and her heart. Kathie loved gardening, feeding the birds, and traveling to new places with her immediate family and with many friends willing to share the ride. She also loved the thrill of visiting casinos every now and then, "just for the fun of it".
Kathie leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Richard, (aka Skeeter); daughter, Cheryl (Tom) Borro; son, Chris (Gloria) Gajewicz; daughter, Julie (Moody) Talb; and son, Robb (Joyce) Gajewicz; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother Ron (Shirley) Sieja and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Thelma (Sager) and John E. Sieja.
