Kenneth Joseph Perry, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, Ken was born June 7, 1941, to Irv and Ora (Meacham) Perry. He was proud to have been raised in North Toledo with his parents and sister, Arlene (Moore).
Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanine (Hickman); son, Doug; daughter, Joan (Mike Szafarowicz); grandchildren, Gage and Taylor Perry; close sister-in-law, Debbie (Phil) Leonard; and many cousins in the Perry, Miller, Meacham, and Hickman families.
Ken attended St. Francis de Sales Grade School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1959. After high school, Ken joined the U.S Army until his honorable discharge in 1969. He attended the University of Toledo and graduated with an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement Technology in 1972, a Bachelor's of Science in 1975, and a Master's of Education in 1978. Ken was employed by the Toledo Police Department from 1967-1985. He served as President of the Toledo Police Patrolman's Association from 1973-1977. He was assigned as an Instructor of the Toledo Police Academy from 1982-1985. Ken continued his law enforcement career as Chief Deputy in 1985, in this capacity he was assigned many roles and responsibilities. These included Chief Negotiator for Labor Relations, services related to the numerous Courts, maintained the Operational Budget, DARE Program, and Child Support Enforcement. He was appointed Interim Sheriff September 2000 and shortly after returned to the position of Chief Deputy until his retirement in 2010. Ken was honored to be elected to the Toledo Public School Board of Education from 1982-1992. He was elected to five 2-year terms. He served as the Board President in 1984, 1989 and 1990.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ken's life on Wednesday, September 28th, at Wisniewski Funeral Home 2426 N. Reynolds Rd. Toledo, Ohio 43615 from 2-8 p.m. On Thursday, September 29th, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2649 US- 20, Swanton, OH 43558, family will greet guests beginning at 10 a.m. with funeral mass beginning at 11 a.m. Luncheon will follow at 12-2 p.m. with burial service to follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Oregon, OH, at 3:30 p.m. for those who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, tributes in Ken's name can be made to the Catholic Club of Toledo, The Old Newsboys Association, or the Police Athletic League (PAL).
