Laurie Owen Crisp passed away on January 3rd, 2022. Laurie was born to Jack and Irene (Czerniak) Owen on May 10th, 1964. She was a 1982 graduate of Whitmer High School and received her bachelor’s in teaching from the University of Toledo and taught 1st grade, most recently at McGregor Elementary School. On July 8th, 2011, she married John Crisp and together they raised two children, Meredith, and Ross.
She was the perfect wife, sister and aunt, the perfect friend and most important to her - perfect mother - if you consider the selfless commitment to her kids without complaint and the result she produced, you can see it was a perfect role for her. Loving her was easy and receiving her love was the same because it was so genuine and pure. She was quick to laugh, spontaneous and full of life. To try and define Laurie in one word is impossible but the best word to describe her is selfless.
Laurie was always happiest when spending time with family and friends and was always in pursuit of time together and chasing sunsets. She is survived by her Husband of 10 years Mr. John Crisp, their two children Meredith McKinney and Ross Wagner and their spouses Josh and Ari. She is also survived by her sister Debbie Ferraro, and her nieces and nephews’ families and community of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene, and Jack Owen.
Her legacy will live in the hearts and minds of her family and friends, students, and everyone she interacted with along with those that she gave the gift of life through her organ donation. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to The Heart Association (heart.org) and Life Connection.
Visitation will take place from 9:00 am to 11:45 am on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will take place from 11:45 am - 12:15 pm at the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N Reynolds Rd, Toledo, OH 43615.
