Lawrence J. Schlegel Obituary

Lawrence J. Schlegel, age 82, of Waterville, Ohio died Friday March 24, 2023. He was born in Toledo on September 20, 1940 to Claude and Lydia (Mills) Schlegel.

He married the former Joyce Leith on January 5, 1963 and served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1965 during the Vietnam Era. Larry returned home and worked at the former Champion Sparkplug Co. for 28 1/2 years until they closed down. Subsequently he worked with his son Eric for 21 years as the owners of E & L Landscaping. In his retirement years, Larry enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Joyce; and their children, Annette (Tony) Klocko and Eric (Tesha) Schlegel; grandchildren, Stephen (Morgan), Lindsey, Austin, Colton (Megan) and Carter (Emily); great grandchildren, Taylor and Mason Klocko; brother, Charles (Gloria); and sister-in-law, Liz Schlegel.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dale and Harlan; and sister, Betty Schober.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later time.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Cherry Street Mission.
