Margaret Katherine (Lewandowski) Kolinski Obituary

Margaret Katherine Kolinski, “Busia Margie” age 95 passed away Thursday February 13, 2025 at Flower Hospital. The second daughter of Ernest and Mary (Topoleski) Lewandowski, born March 21, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio. Margie was deaf from a young age and learned how to read lips and speak at Lincoln school for the deaf in Toledo. There she made lifelong friendships. Margie’s close ties with the Catholic deaf community began in the 1960’s with Father Weltin from St. John’s Jesuit. She was deeply involved and committed to her catholic faith. Margie met Leo Kolinski, the love of her life, and they were married on April 28, 1951. Together they raised five children while both working full-time jobs. Our mom was a very talented and artistic person, being renowned for her glass engraving skills. She was featured in Libbey Glass/Owens Illinois publications for her glass cutting skills. Mom even had a glass cutting wheel in the garage at our family home so she could make beautiful commemorative glassware for family and friends. Margie was employed at Libbey Glass on Buckeye Street in Toledo for 42 years. Margie was a very kind and loving person and deeply committed to her family and Catholic faith. Margie is survived by her daughters Deborah (Ed Sr) Czechowski, Susan Kolinski and Karen (Tom, deceased) Wisniewski. She was predeceased by her husband Leo, sons John and Kevin, mother and father Mary and Ernest Lewandowski, sister Florence Slagle and grandson Zachariah Kolinski. Margie leaves behind to cherish her memory, sister Patricia Kish, grandchildren; Ed Czechowski Jr, Aaron Czechowski, Holly Kolinski, Sarah Kolinski, Aaliyah Kolinski, Alijah Kolinski, Amanda Orth, Kristy Hayes, Nicole Pickett, Dana Retana, Alex Wisniewski, Kevin Kolinski Jr and Keith Kolinski, great grandchildren; Jermaine, Prince, Jaxson, Scarlett, Justin, Lucy, Billy, Charlotte, Violet, Landon, Collin, Finn, Sophia, Isabella, Jace and Maya, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also many deaf friends and ties with the Catholic deaf community in Toledo.
Visitation will be held at the Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd. Toledo, OH 43615 on Tuesday February 18 from 3:00 until 7:00 pm. where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd. on Wednesday February 19 from 10:00 until 11:00 am with the Funeral Mass being celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
