Mary E. (Campbell) Behrendt Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Behrendt
February 20, 1930 – March 29, 2026
Mary Elizabeth Behrendt, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at her home in Holland, Ohio.
Born on February 20, 1930, and raised in the South End of Toledo, Mary was the daughter of the late Herbert and Florence (Kelch) Campbell and was the second youngest of six children. A proud graduate of Libbey High School, she began her professional career at the Toledo Trust Company. A woman of profound faith, Mary held a deep and lifelong connection to the Catholic Church. This devotion was a cornerstone of her life, and she served the community she loved as the secretary for Little Flower Parish during the 1970s.
On May 20, 1950, Mary married the love of her life, Jim Behrendt. Together they built a beautiful life until his passing in 2005. Mary was known for her feisty spirit and a creative heart; she was a talented seamstress who took great pride in sewing and making special things for her family. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and she found her greatest joy in their laughter.
Mary is survived by her beloved son, Steven Behrendt. Her legacy continues through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored:
• Amber (Casey) Noonan, and great-grandchildren David, Charlie, and Henry.
• Eric (Billie Lewallen) Behrendt, and great-grandchildren Paige, Cienna, Trevor, Laikyn, Brielle, and Bellamy.
• Bryn (Scott) Newton, and great-grandchildren twins Josie and June.
• Eva (Brent) Moore, and great-grandchildren Anabelle and Alexander (Pozzanghera), Abigail (Bartus), and Archer, Finnegan, and Storie Moore.
• She was also the cherished great-great-grandmother of Nolan and Ariyah.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; and her siblings: Helen (Dwight) Jones, Frank (Libby) Campbell, Paul (Jeanne) Campbell, Leo (June) Campbell, and Dorothy (Kenny) Fuss. She was also preceded in death by her dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the Behrendt family. While she will be deeply missed by those here, her family finds comfort in knowing she is finally reunited with Jim and her five brothers and sisters, held once more in the arms of the Lord.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to her kind and patient caregivers, Becky, Debbie, Chasity, Sienna, Jamie and Brooklyn for their years of support. They also extend a special thank you to the team at Hospice 360—Danni, Missy, Brittany, Bridget, and Amber—for their compassionate end-of-life care.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Little Flower Catholic Church , 5522 Dorr St, Toledo, OH 43615 at 11:00 a.m., where friends will be received beginning at 10:00 a.m. that morning. Entombment in Lumen Christi Mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery will follow the service.
