Mary E. (Duszynski) Golkiewicz Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, Mary Golkiewicz, on December 20,
2024 at the age of 91. Born in her parents' home to Casimir and Mary Duszynski on November 29, 1933,
she was the youngest of 6 children...the baby.
Raised in Polish Town "Lagrinka" she attended St. Adelbert Grade School and graduated from Central
Catholic High School class of 1951. She married Ray Golkiewicz and together they lovingly raised their
three children. She was the greatest mom as many of that generation were and though we may not
have heard the words, "I love you," growing up...we never doubted that we were truly loved.
Mom retired from AP Parts after many years of service. Our dad, Ray, died unexpectedly in 1989. She
lived by herself from that time on. It was an incredible life lived to the fullest on her own terms.
Mom was a skilled stained glass artisan, seamstress and homemaker. She lived an active life and enjoyed
the casino, playing pinochle, euchre and staying "In touch" on her smart phone and tablet. She delivered
mobile meals, volunteered at church functions, belonged to the Towne Club and loved tending her
amazing hosta garden. Mom’s Christian faith was rock solid and she was a devout Catholic her entire life.
She enjoyed a beer, some wine and a margarita from time to time. She loved to fish for walleye and
perch on Lake Erie well in to her 80's. Another favorite pastime was going to the "mine" with Sue and
Allie.
Mom was beloved by her entire family. She was a wonderful person who was kind and generous. She
carried food cards to gift those she came across in need. She kept her charitable deeds private. Those
closest to her knew her as "Mimi" and "Mother Mary."
Mary is survived by her children, Mary Jo (Don) Drozdowicz, Matthew (Katy), Sue (Bob) Corbett, 8 grand
children, 16 great grand children and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, grandson (Andrew), siblings: Marcella, Rita, Catherine, Joe and Carl.
A Mass celebrating Mary's life will be held on January 11th at 11a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church,
4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, Ohio 43623. Family will receive guests at 10:00 prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers or tributes, we ask that you "pay it forward" with acts of kindness to those who cross your path in her memory.
