Matthew Poturalski, beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and friend, passed away at home on January 18th, 2026, at 59 years old. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on August 23, 1966, Matthew was a graduate of Roger's High School, 1984, where he played basketball. Following high school he started working for Kentucky Fried Chicken as a cook, where he worked his way up to General Manager. Won many service awards. He continued his food management career as General Manager of Bill Knapps in Findlay, Ohio. He then decided to make a career change and got his CDL and started to drive Semi Trucks and received millions of safe driving mile awards. He worked for multiple companies, including UPS.
Matt loved his Detroit Lions and his beer, but the greatest loves of his life were his son, daughter, and grandchildren who called him Papa. All who knew Matt also knew his great passion for motorcycles; even after various accidents he would not stop riding. There was nothing like that wind in his face, he called that his therapy.
He is survived by his son, Matthew Poturalski; and daughter, Melinda Smith (Thomas Lightfoot); granddaughters, Taylynn Hall (Ricardo Castro), MacKenna Poturalski and Maxton Poturalski; mother, Madonna Poturalski; sisters, Mellissa Poturalski, MaryJo Arehart (Darrin Arehart); niece, Morgan Poturalski Georgoff (Jeremy Bias); nephew, Gavin Arehart; and many cousins and lifelong friends.

Matt will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will never be forgotten
