Michael, “Mike” Allen Kolodzaike, 83 passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2026. Mike was born on November 4, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio.
During his high school years, Mike was a talented multi-sport athlete, excelling in football, as a defensive end for Libby High School, graduating in 1961. Mike was drafted in 1966, and served state side for the United States Army during Vietnam.
Mike married Elaine (Hoag) Kolodzaike in 1967, and together they had five children. Mike began his career as a pipefitter working for Gulf Oil, and later, Daimler-Chrysler, retiring in 2006, after 22 years of service. Throughout his career, Mike was known for his strong work ethic and his dedication to the skill.
Mike had many hobbies which included playing in dart leagues, fishing, painting, and detailing cars. He enjoyed yardwork, caring for his dogs and watching sports. His greatest joy, however, was watching his grandchildren play sports.
Mike will be sadly missed by his children, Michelle Lange, Angela Kolodzaike, Scott (Keely) Kolodzaike, and Julie (Craig) Hoerig; Grandchildren, Jarred and Zach Lange, Jameson, Laney, and Kaylen Pappas, Gunnar and Blaise Fleming, Molly Kolodzaike, Ian, Luke, Chloe and Bryce Hoerig. Also, his brother, John Kolodzaike; and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Elaine (Hoag) Kolodzaike, and his son Michael L. Kolodzaike. His brothers, James and Ronald Kolodzaike, and sisters, Dolores Holdren, Mary Beyer, and Joan Puls.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and Memory Lane Care Services for the compassionate care they provided for Mike.
Receiving of Family and Friends to honor Mike’s memory; Friday, July 31 from 10:00-11:00 am at Little Flower Catholic Church. A funeral mass follows at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors.
