Michael, “Mike” Leo Kolodzaike, age 51, was called to heaven on May 21, 2021. Mike was born on April 11, 1970 , in Toledo, Ohio. He was the son of Michael A. Kolodzaike and Elaine A. (Hoag) Kolodzaike.
Mike graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1988. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, serving eight years of combined active and reservist duty. He was an artilleryman in Operation Desert Storm. Mike resided in Toledo, Ohio. Mike began his career in the restaurant industry, as part of the kitchen staff at Stone Oak Country Club and later The Legacy Golf Club. Mike served as a kitchen manager for the last 20 years at Jed’s Barbeque and Brew.
Mike was a Roman Catholic and upheld his Christian values throughout his life. He took pride in his conservative Republican convictions, and was known for his quick-witted rebuttals in response to anyone who challenged his beliefs. Mike was admired by all for his valor, sacrifice, and dedication to his country.
Mike had an easygoing demeanor, infectious laugh, and a keen ability to provide comedic relief, anytime, anywhere. Effortlessly, he could put a smile on anyone’s face he met.
Mike was an avid Notre Dame Football and New York Yankees fan. Mike enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his childhood friends and family.
Above all, Mike was a devoted and loving father to his daughter Molly, who he endearingly called “turkey.” Molly was the light of his life. He was often heard saying that becoming a father to her was the best thing that ever happened to him.
Mike will be sadly missed by his father, Michael A. Kolodzaike, daughter, Molly Isabelle Kolodzaike, His sisters; Julie (Craig) Hoerig, Michelle Lange, Angela (Patrick) Fleming. Brother, Scott (Keely) Kolodzaike. Also his three nieces, and eight nephews who affectionately called him, “Uncle Mikey” ; Ian, Luke, Chloe and Bryce Hoerig, Jarred and Zach Lange, Jameson, Laney and Kaylen Pappas, and Gunnar and Blaise Fleming, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine (Hoag) Kolodzaike.
