Myer Liber Obituary

Myer Liber, know best as "Mike", died in Florida on January 18, 2022, after a long illness.

Myer was born on November 27, 1928, to Samuel and Tillie Liber. He was the youngest of five siblings, brothers Chuck, Goody and Harry; and sister Mary. Myer grew up in Tiffin, Ohio, attended Heidelberg College and moved to Toledo to attend the University of Toledo where he was a member of the AEPi fraternity.

In Toledo he spent his career in the automobile business.

He founded Cherry Auto Glass 75 years ago and later expanded his successful enterprise to include Dixie Auto Storage and Dixie Auto Leasing. Mike was an avid golfer until recent years but was even more passionate about his mastery of bridge. Prior to COVID, he traveled endlessly to regional tournaments in pursuit of life master points.

During the pandemic he continued that pursuit by playing online.

He was proud to have amassed 2421 master points earning the rank of Ruby Life Master.

Myer was active in the B'nai Brith bowling league, B'nai Israel Men's club, enjoyed attending UT basketball games and assisting with Boy Scout outings, including a river trip with his son Kevin. He and his son, Sandy learned and played squash together at the Toledo JCC.

His daughter, Nadine is grateful for his strong support of her marriage. He enjoyed travel including trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Israel, and much of the USA, including a winter trip to Buffalo, New York, during a blizzard to attend his son Jeff's eldest son's bris.

In recent years he enjoyed watching PGA golf on television and rooting for his "adopted" son, Tiger Woods.

Most notably, he was a devoted husband. He was married to Shirley (Levin) for 38 years and could not have been more supportive and caring during her long battle with cancer. In 1988 he married Yael (Limer) and they spent 33 loving years together. He and Yael relocated to Boca Raton, Florida after retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Yael; children, Jeffrey and (Hillary) Liber of San Diego, California, Nadine and (Bruce) Clipson of Boynton Beach, Florida, Sandy and (Monika) Liber of The Villages, Florida and Kevin & the late (Faylayn) Liber of Toledo. He is also survived by Yael's children, Noam & (Heather) Hirschberger of New York, and Oren Hirschberger of Chicago. He leaves seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
