Norman Malkin, age 98, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026. He was married to Rita F. Judashko in 1959. After decades residing in the New York City area, they relocated to Holland, OH, in 1996. Following Rita’s passing in 2013, he established residence in Toledo, OH, where he spent his final days. 
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Harry and Ray Malkin, and his brother, Abraham. He is survived by daughters, Julie Malkin and Lori Malkin Ehrlich and their children — Rachel Noleff, Jesse Ehrlich, and Emma Ehrlich — along with nephew and niece, Mark Malkin and Debra Metz and her children, Dara Metz Weiss and Matt Metz.
Norman spent his career managing engineering programs in computer and medical technology, as well as military avionics. He was awarded American and foreign patents for his work in early computing. He served in the military during the Korean War at the Signal Corps Engineering Laboratory at Fort Monmouth, NJ, working on the US atomic testing program.
He earned a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University (1957) and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from City College (1949). He began his education majoring in aeronautical engineering at Brooklyn Technical High School.
Norman was an avid listener of Big Band music, enjoyed golf throughout his life and, with Rita, traveled extensively throughout North, Central, and South America, and Europe.
Funeral services will be held gravesite at Beth Shalom Cemetery in Oregon, Ohio on Tuesday September 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
