Robert A Hartmann “devoted son, spouse, father, grandfather, great grandfather, God father and friend.”
“Well done good and faithful servant” Matthew 25:2, words Bob must have heard the Lord say as he entered his eternal home on June 29th from EBEID Hospice of NWO with his loving family at his side and surely welcomed by his parents; Arthur and Mary Louise Hartmann. Aunts Alra Hartmann & Eva Stahl and all his deceased family and friends. Robert, “Bob-Preferably Mr. Bob”, Dad and Papa was born on February 14th 1937 in Toledo. He formerly lived in Sylvania Township having grown up in West Toledo and currently resided at West Park Place Sr. living for the last two years with his devoted wife, Marcia “Nowaczyk” whom he married 55-years ago on September 28th, 1968 after being co-workers at Schramms Flower Shop. He became a Father 8-years later when their only child Nicole Marie was born. He excelled both as a Father and Husband, later as grandfather and great grandfather. His family was his everything and always came first in his life. Presently he also had an extended family at WPP with the staff and residents, to whom we are forever grateful for the love and care they all gave him. He even received shoulder massages from a special nurse when she felt he needed it. He enjoyed and appreciated it.
He attended Nazareth Hall Military School as a young child and then graduated from St. Agnes grade school, Central Catholic High School (1956) and onto Floral Arts and Design School in Chicago. He became a dedicated and talented floral designer at Schramm Brother’s Florist & in 1976, requested by the owner of Joe Cooper Florist to join his staff. He accepted and retired from there in 2002.
His passion was enjoying his awesome flower gardens at his former home. When the fall came, he was all in on watching football. Partial to Notre Dame and Ohio State. He very much enjoyed dancing; ballroom and modern dances of the 50s’, 60s’ & 70s’. He had even taken ballroom classes at Alfredo’s Dance Studio in his young adulthood. As he grew more frail and dementia increased, he especially enjoyed listening and singing to the Righteous Brothers which became his favorite pastime. That even got him up on difficult days.
Bob was blessed with a unique wit and sense of humor using it to answer questions and making unexpected comments making everyone around him laugh. Such a joy he was! Amazingly, he never lost that ability even until death. He was an honorable, loving, trustworthy man of faith. Former member of Christ The King Church, St. Pius X Church and Little Flower Catholic Church from 1986 to present.
