Roger Michael Bell Obituary

Roger Michael Bell died in his home on July 3, 2025. Roger was born in the same home 88 years ago, on February 13, 1937. His parents were Roy and Evelyn Bell. Roger's childhood was idyllic, living on several acres with horses and ponies to ride and a variety of other animals. He also helped on the family farm. There were several neighborhood children with whom he remained friends into adulthood. He attended Martin School and Macomber High, reminiscing often about the fine teachers and the invaluable education he received. Roger was a member of Little Flower Parish throughout his life.

A true craftsman at heart, Roger took great pleasure in tinkering in his workshop. Roger enjoyed tinkering in his shop. Roger built several working steam engines, creating every part by hand. Each was a masterpiece of precision and care. He was also a talented painter, once creating a mural of an Oliver tractor based on one the family owned.

Roger served in the United States Army and was stationed for a year in the Republic of Korea. He often stated that serving in Korea was like a year-long vacation.

Roger became diabetic in his thirties and embraced cycling to ward off the effects of the disease. Roger had a passion for biking, riding over 85,000 miles. He continued to ride even in the last weeks of his life. Roger was particularly proud of his long bicycle trips to Indiana.

While Roger was a life-long bachelor, he was playful with his nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with them. He had the gift of engaging them on their level and making them laugh.

Roger spent his entire career working as a moldmaker at Toledo Mold. Roger was a skilled moldmaker and was selected by his company to travel to Vermont for training on computerized operation.

Roger is survived by his sister Dolores Davies, his brother Gene (Jackie) and numerous nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Evelyn Bell; brothers John, Ramon (Caroline) and Jerry ( Mary); and brother-in-law, George Davies.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, July 9th at Little Flower Catholic Church. Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. The family will greet guests in the narthex of Little Flower beginning at 10:00 AM. To honor Roger's memory, memorials may be made to the Little Flower St. Vincent De Paul Society.
